Former Genesys sales executives bring nearly 30 years of combined contact center industry experience to growing Sharpen team

INDIANAPOLIS, May 28, 2018 – Sharpen Technologies, developers of the agent-first omni-channel cloud contact center platform, has hired contact center industry veterans Steve Kaplan and Michael Rudow as vice presidents of sales. Kaplan and Rudow are seasoned sales executives with nearly 30 years of combined contact center industry experience.

Kaplan and Rudow’s hires come as Sharpen is seeing rapid demand and growth across its business, fueled in part by the dynamic cloud contact center market that’s projected to grow from $6.8 billion in 2017, to $20.93 billion by 2022 (a compound annual growth rate of 25.2 percent).

Over the last 12 months the company has increased staff by more than 25 percent. In Q1 2018 alone it hired 18 employees with an emphasis on client support and business development roles.

“Steve and Michael are extremely accomplished sales leaders in the contact center industry and we look forward to Sharpen’s continued growth as they drive sales opportunities and solve business problems for our customers,” said Cameron Weeks, CEO of Sharpen. “The cloud-based contact center infrastructure market is one of the fastest growing IT sectors in this space. Steve and Michael’s history of driving business outcomes through customer engagement is exactly what Sharpen needs to further its rapid advancement in this industry.”

Kaplan, who will oversee Sharpen’s sales operations in the East region, is a proven sales management professional with more than 20 years of experience in software related activities, from development and design, to implementation and sales.

He was previously a vice president of sales at Genesys (formerly Interactive Intelligence), a provider of omni-channel customer experience and contact center solutions, overseeing revenue generation for commercial accounts in the Eastern United States.

Prior to Genesys, Kaplan worked in a sales role at Software Artistry, selling strategic client-server customer support solutions to Fortune 1000 companies in Maryland and Virginia.

Rudow has more than 15 years of experience providing exceptional sales leadership in highly competitive markets and will manage sales operations for Sharpen in the West region.

He spent the past eight years with Genesys, joining the team as sales director, Pacific region in 2010, and later being promoted to vice president of sales, West region in January 2013.

Additionally, his background includes sales positions with Aspect Communications, Aspect Software, Fujitsu Business Communications and ASI.
