Tech writer honored for professional contribution, collaboration, mentoring and community involvement

INDIANAPOLIS, Aug. 22, 2019 – TechPoint, the growth accelerator for Indiana’s tech ecosystem, has named Sharpen Technologies’ Meg Richmond a Tech 25 Award winner.

The Tech 25 honors 25 of Indiana’s most stellar non-C-level performers based on their professional contributions to tech and tech-enabled companies. Other evaluation criteria include the ability to collaborate across teams, a commitment to mentorship, and volunteerism within the community.

As a technical writer for Sharpen, Meg oversees the entire request for proposal (RFP) process. She helped Sharpen build from scratch a formal process for submitting and tracking proposals. This included a custom-built automated workflow, a technology Q&A, and other vital resources such as compliance documentation.

“We’re committed to high-touch sales and service,” said Mike Simmons, Sharpen’s chairman and CEO. “Meg’s ability to accurately, thoroughly and quickly complete RFPs has not only helped us significantly increase sales revenue, it’s enabled us to convey at the earliest stage that we’re a responsive and transparent partner to future customers. That’s a huge differentiator in our business of customer experience technology.”

Meg’s adeptness at RFPs is not only a result of her hyper-efficient process, strong work ethic and attention to detail, but also a result of the energy and enthusiasm she brings to cross-functional teamwork.

“Meg recently helped me with an RFP for a credit union prospect,” said Allison Stroh, premier account executive at Sharpen. “The document had over 50 questions and required input from multiple departments. I gave it to Meg on a Monday afternoon and she returned it within two days. We won that deal in large part to Meg. She’s not only a rock star but a joy to work with!”

According to Meg, making good on her promises to others is what drives her. “I’m passionate about expediency, accuracy and exceptional results,” she said. “I think a big reason I’ve been able to accomplish so much is that team members trust that I’ll deliver. I thrive on that and it drives me to keep learning from others and keep getting better.”

Meg is also passionate about community service, where she focuses on animal rescue. Her animal rescue volunteer contributions have helped raise more than $30,000 in donations this past year alone.

Meg’s sense of service, however, extends beyond animals in need. “Being a voice for those who have none is really important to me,” she said. “I’ve expressed this largely through helping animals, but it’s another reason I’m really drawn to Indiana. Helping others is a strong value here and it’s inspired me to stay rooted in the importance of giving. I’m grateful to live and work in a place that understands that.”
